Venezuelan Tiger

$ 4.70

Description:   The Venezuelan Tiger is a rare and remarkable landrace pepper, a cherished heirloom that delivers the full sensory experience of a Capsicum chinense with virtually none of the heat. It is a true "flavor" pepper, prized for its extraordinary sweetness and massive size.

This variety has a fantastic origin story, having been sourced in 2012 from a family's backyard in Venezuela. It is not a modern hybrid but a true, preserved heirloom.

The plant is a strong producer, but its most shocking trait is the size of the pods. The peppers are enormous, growing 3 to 4 inches long and 2 inches wide, with some resembling the size of a "small hand grenade." They have thin, wrinkled skin and ripen from a pale lime green to a deep, glossy, bright red.

The name "Tiger" is a bit of a misnomer, as this pepper is anything but fierce. It is almost entirely heat-free, with a Scoville rating near zero. Its flavor is its main attribute: an explosive, clean, and juicy sweetness, packed with the intense, tropical fruit aroma of a classic Habanero but with no burn. It is perfect for stuffing, roasting, or creating exceptionally fruity sweet sauces and mild salsas.
